e have been offering the finest and most comprehensive selection of cupolas and other building, yard and garden ornaments since 1985.
In architecture, a cupola or lantern is a radially symmetrical ornamental structure (often dome-shaped or quadrilateral) located on top of a larger roof or dome, often used as a lookout or to admit light and provide ventilation.
The word comes, through Italian, from the lower Latin cupula (classical Latin cupella from the Greek kupellon) small cup (lat. cupa) indicating a vault resembling an upside down cup.
In some cases, the entire main roof of a tower or spire can form a single cupola. More frequently, however, the cupola comprises a smaller structure which sits on top of the main roof. Some cupolas, called lanterns, have small windows which illuminate the areas below. Cupolas are ornamental structures placed in a visible position, usually at the top of a larger roof or dome.
They often appear as small buildings in their own right, like. They can be the small dome that crowns the top of an outdoor garden pavilion, folly, or gazebo. Sometimes the pavilion itself is called a cupola. Cupolas occasionally act as the main roof of a tower, spire, or turret. When they do, they usually provide a considerably more elaborate enclosure than the average roof.
Ever since the purchase of our first cupola in 1985 we decided to offer them to other like minded individuals as well as an expanding selection of other outdoor items for home, garden and commercial applications. Our copper, wood and vinyl cupolas are available in a variety of sizes and styles.
More than ever, people are taking more of an interest in home exteriors and gardens. Ornamental products have skyrocketed into popularity. We also offer smaller items - such as cottage weathervanes (half the size of the standard vanes), lawn ornaments. These items make perfect gifts for any occasion. Having a cupola for your home really makes a statement.
